Fight For The Cure

It is the year 2072. A deadly disease has taken over the world. Alongside the many lost to this disease, the remaining members of humanity have dealt with a constant battle to obtain the high in-demand antidote. As the life-taking illness continued to take a toll on the world,  the supply of the carefully crafted cure has dramatically decreased. 

The main component of the cure is the ''Gowen's orchid petal''. But because of the overuse, this flower no longer grows, and only a limited supply of the cure is still available. When faced with survival, the world became a corrupt place. Unity was no longer an option as selfishness became the only strategy to stay alive. 

In order to combat the growing frustration and violence throughout society, global leaders decided to run a yearly event that places 100 randomly selected people from around the world in a competition to the death. The last one standing receives the cure for themselves, as well as their family. According to the world’s leaders, this is a solution to dissolve the idea that only the elite and privileged can survive. They state that since the introduction of this event, there is no more violence or war between people as supply can only be given to the victor of the game.
